What to expect from the service

What to expect from the service

The Scottish Climate Intelligence Service helps to support planning and delivery of programmes of area-wide emissions reduction across Scotland.

SCIS is a capacity-building service with both a national digital platform and a support service co-designed with its stakeholders. The platform collates area-wide emissions data to build a baseline of emissions to calculate and visualise the emission reductions of the actions and projects local authorities have in order to deliver their area-wide emissions reduction strategies. The service supports local authorities in building the skills, knowledge, and influence to use this data to enable planning, monitoring and delivery of climate action at the scale and pace required for achieving net zero targets.

Over time, the Scottish Climate Intelligence Service will engage more widely as we work with local authorities to engage the critical stakeholders they need to support delivery of their climate plans, and as we build data on local projects and actions contributing towards area-wide emissions reduction.

The Service also works to demonstrate and quantify the wider social, economic and environmental benefits of climate action, which will be essential to securing future commitment and investment for delivery.
