Reducing emissions is only one part of the local climate action story. Multiple additional benefits - from improved health outcomes and lower bills to green jobs and warmer homes - are up for grabs if we take effective climate action today.
SCIS is pleased to publish the first of a series of briefings highlighting some of the key social benefits and real value of local climate action that could be implemented by local authorities across Scotland.
This briefing - Active Travel - has been produced by the SCIS colleagues working on the UK Co-Benefits Atlas. It highlights the social benefits of active travel interventions, demonstrating how investments in active travel not only reduces emissions but help local authorities deliver key service outcomes, while reducing strain on public finances in the long-term.
